Weekly links on 20th November

The theme this week is Twitter's new RT feature. To be honest, I dislike it for two reasons: 1) The gadgets I use do not support it at the moment, 2) and even if they did I would sometimes like to comment on the tweets I RT, and 3) the feature seems to prevent me from discovering interesting people to follow. Funny enough, my dislike seems to be widely shared!

Weekly (video) links on 13th November.

This week I'll put only two links here, but you'll find 29 inspiring, touching or just funny videos if you click them.
The first one takes you to the Sesame Street Classic Songs. I loved these characters and so did my daughter, in fact, we both still love them. (My favourite is Kermit singing on being green.)
The other one is from Mashable: 7 of the Most Inspiring Videos on the Web. "You need some inspiration, and you’re in luck because the web is full of inspiring stories captured on video."

Not weekly links but QUOTES on 6th November

For some reason people I follow love quotes. So this week it'll be
quotes instead of links. These are the ones I found most inspiring or
just funny during last week. Note! I do not take any responsibility on
mistakes, ie. typos, faulty source etc. These are on an "as is" basis.

"Age wrinkles the body. Quitting wrinkles the soul." Douglas MacArthur
(via @MikePulsifer, @BertDecker)
"You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star."
Nietzsche (via @briitu)
"Set your heart in doing good. Do it over and over again, and you'll
be filled with joy." Buddha (via @vehmassembly)
"When you can't solve the problem, manage it." Robert H. Schuller (via @Raj_R)
"Shallow men believe in luck; strong men believe in cause and effect"
Ralph Waldo Emerson (via @ChrisHusong)
"The Mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a
hell of heaven." John Milton (via @KatriK)
"Failure is an event, never a person." William D. Brown (via @askaaronlee)
"Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the
Ark. Professionals built the Titanic." Unknown? (via @TeemuKorpi)

Busting the Mehrabian Myth

There has been some discussion lately on the "Mehrabian Myth". It seems that Professor Mehrabian’s research might have been slightly misinterpreted. In this great animation, his theory is presented in a bit different way.

It is fairly easy for me to agree with most parts of this video. But we also have to be careful, and not to let the pendulum swing too far the other way. The truth probably lies somewhere in between.

A beautiful animation "The Forest" by David Scharf/ DESIGNSPOTTER.COM

This great animation is a work of David Scharf who is a young film-maker from Germany. "The Forest" is his final work at the Faculty of Graphics Design of the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg.

Here is a short description of the story:
"Antonia is a 12 year old girl. She often has daydreams, in which she wonders of in to a magical far away forest, were she hides from the problems of the real world. One day, however, her father takes drastic measures and she has to face a decision."
